We collected Peaches and Barley two months ago at six weeks old so they are now three and a half months old.
Their voices have started to change. They no longer cheap like chicks but don’t have their grown up voice yet either. It’s something in between, sort of a cross between a squeak and a honk.
They are still bottom girls at the moment but I wonder if that may change when they are fully mature. At the moment they run from the other girls and keep out of their way. They are really speedy and are always together.
They do have little spats between themselves but it seems quite playful. They never peck each other but run at each other with their ruffs raised. They circle each other then run off and each time it only lasts seconds. I keep trying to get a photo of this but it is over so quickly that I haven’t managed yet.
They are still skittish if I move towards them but if I crouch down to get a photo Peaches is really inquisitive and will come right up to me.

I do think these two girls are beautiful and it will be interesting to see how they mature. I am looking forward to a few more eggs too.

One thing I’d like to point out is that Peaches and Barley look nice in the photos, but in real life they are stunning. Somehow the camera doesn’t do them justice.
You are right. Somehow their colours don’t show up against the runs background. Their feather patterns are so fine and delicate and their subtle colours beautiful. We have my mother in law staying with us at the moment and she says they are her favourites.
I agree with Steve.. They are stunning in real life , more beautiful than their photos. Maybe you should have little tours and charge an entry fee.
When Steve had only seen Peaches and Barley on my blog he said that he thought they were not as striking as my other girls but when he visited and saw them in the flesh he changed his mind. Sometimes you just can’t do justice with photos.

They are absolutely beautiful birds and look as if they are developing really well: I suspect they’ll be your star layers!
I am pinning all my hopes on them being my star layers. Eggs are thin on the ground at the moment with only Honey and Sparkle each laying every other day, so one egg a day. Got to love them all though!
