I thought a fish treat would provide a bit of extra protein while there is so much moulting going on. It’s also always a good way of getting group photos. I think the mixture of breeds in the flock is so pretty.
The girls really enjoyed their fish treat. They are such a pretty flock and all lovely natures too.
Lovely picture of the girls enjoying their fish treats.
They soon demolished the fish. They are lovely girls.
They all look thriving!! It’s amazing that Saffron looks so big next to the other girls, I used to have a bantam plymouth rock and also thought her really small but up to seramas she looks quite portly and beautiful! xx
Diamond and Saffron are bigger than the rest of the girls. Salmon looks so tiny now by comparison. Size makes no difference to the pecking order though. Saffron is bottom girl and it is funny to see the seramas, who are tiny next to her, give her a peck and send her running from them. xx
As Sophie has said, I always found my buff rock bantam on the small side, but yours looks huge compared with the bulk of your flock. A lovely flock; you must be delighted – and it must feel so much better to be in what seems to be a period of stability.
Saffron has grown since we first got her. I almost think Diamond and Saffron don’t look like bantams but Richard said that the full size chickens at our local pub look like giants compared to our girls. I think you could divide the flock into three sets of small, medium and large bantams. the seramas being the small, the rest medium with Diamond and Saffron large. It is good to have a happy flock at the moment. I start them on the next round of flubenvet on Saturday 1st October.
