The step worked perfectly for the new girls at bedtime tonight. They easily found their way to the high perch with none of them ending up over the top of the wire. They looked so cute together that I just had to take a photo.
I waited until near dark to lift them down and put them in the coup. I am happy that we now have an easy bedtime routine.
They do look sweet all perched together.
They do look sweet don’t they! I love the way they are all facing the same way.
Well, that didn’t take long – btw found Bubble dead this morning so that’s definitely made my mind up too xx
Oh Sophie, I am so sorry. Pipenchick are in Bristol which I seem to think that’s near you. Perhaps if they are near enough you could pay them a visit if you were thinking of having different bantam breeds in the future. That is so sad. So many of our seramas have had such short lives which is heartbreaking xx
Thank you Carol. Yes, Bristol is very near to me so that would be a good plan. Not sure what to do yet as I’m still in shock. I still have Jasmine who is at least 6 years old now xx
I know how you feel because I was shocked too by the recent losses. Jasmine has done well. The oldest I have managed with my seramas is Salmon and Spangle at four years old. Sugar is two years old. It’s such a shame because I dearly love seramas but just can’t keep going through this xx
They look totally at home. I send my thoughts to Sophie, but it sounds like she has one robust (or maybe lucky!) serama.
Sophie has the record of eldest serama between us but it does make me think that it isn’t just me, they are delicate birds. It does seem to be this time of year too which I think is due to it being the time of coming back into lay. I still worry about Salmon too when she comes back in to lay. It is so sad. I feel I made the right decision to change breeds but I still so love seramas.
Thank you David – she’s going to be a lonely serama until I decide what to do! xx
I feel so sad for you having just one girl. xx
Well done Carol – perseverance and paying attention to your girls paid off 🙂
The routine is now so easy. They perch with ease and at dusk I lift them down and put them in the coup. They look at me as if they know what is coming and accept it. It isn’t stressful for them or for me. It is quick and easy and routine and not a murmur from them now.
