We have been gradually digging up the chard at the allotment and giving it to the chooks. There is too much for us to consume and the girls love it. It also saves me having to buy them some daily greens.
We have left the root so it keeps well and I give them a bunch each day. At the end of the day I go in and collect up all the bare stalks.
It’s great that the allotment is still producing and the girls love the chard which keeps them busy throughout the day.
They do love their greens. I cut back some fuschia and gave it to them and, like you, just collected up the bare stems at the end of the day.
I love to see them strip the greens. It’s quite satisfying collecting up bare stems at the end of the day.
They certainly like that, how nice that you are still getting produce from your allotmemt.
They love the chard more than shop bought greens. We still have plenty of it at the moment. There is still some winter produce on the allotment.
