I felt sure that Marmite would lay her first egg today. She must be near to laying. She sat in the middle nest box for a while then moved to the nest box nearest the shed. She was in there for about an hour so when she came out I checked the nest box and nothing. It seems she is just practising.
Some girls need more practice than others. Maybe tomorrow.
Aw, she looks so cute practicing! xx
She does. I love how they have to practice first. xx
Looks very comfortable.
She does. She takes up such a small corner of the nest box.
One of my new girls laid her first, very tiny egg yesterday!! I think it must’ve been one of the Dutch bantam girls as it’s too small even for a pekin I think. On the shortest day!!
I think you’re right and marmite won’t be far behind.
It is amazing getting first eggs at this time of year. You can tell when they are coming when they do the practising.
She looks absolutely stunning and first egg must be imminent! Things are very busy here, with a large gathering at our house for Christmas lunch so, if I don’t get back on before the 25th, let me wish a very Happy Christmas to you, Richard and your family and to all your readers and may your girls be healthy and happy throughout 2019. 🙂
Busy here too. The grandchildren staying at the moment. Both lots of family will be coming with assorted grandchildren for Christmas celebrations. The girls are fine with only occasional sneezes now so we have come through the myco once more. The mild weather is helping.
A very Happy Christmas and New Year to you and your family and may your girls also remain happy and healthy and sometimes not broody!
