The five amigos have formed their own little flock. They stick together. They have grown in confidence and no longer panic if one of them gets separated but they move around as if they are their own flock within the bigger flock.
They remind me of ducklings when they enter the water one after another. One of these five will fly up to the shelter then the second one is up then the third until one by one they are all up in quick succession.
When one jumps down they all pour down one after another. It’s the same when one goes to the water or the food bowl, they all go to the water or the food bowl. It is quite amusing to see them follow each other around the run.
I wonder if they will always stick together like this.
Interesting to wait and see.
It does always seem that the girls that come in together stick together. The silky girls are always together too. How long they are together can also be a factor. Dandelion and Cinnamon were in a a patch of sun yesterday. The silky girls tried to join them and cinnamon pecked them away. Richard said that putting up with them roosting with them at bedtime is enough for them and they don’t want them next to them during the day too. Then next minute Speckles came and settled next to them and was happily accepted. Cinnamon and Dandelion have been around Speckles so long that they happily sit together. The silky girls are still kept a bit more distant. It does seem that there are definite groups within the flock.
