Yesterday Emerald and Dandelion wanted to lay their eggs at the same time. I went to check on them and they had both settled together in the same nest box. It is heart warming to see how well the girls of different sizes get along together.

When I next went to check they were both back out in the run and there were their eggs side by side in the nest box.

Sometimes people worry about having girls of different sizes but in our flock the difference in size is no problem. They share the nest box, they dust bath together and in winter they snuggle up together on the perches. They sit in the sun together and are never far from each other. It is lovely to see the different sized girls in perfect harmony.

It is pretty cute isn’t it!
It’s so lovely to see your hens all getting on. And they look so sweet together in that nest box. One of my favourite things is seeing my girls all squishing together in a big bundle of feathery cosiness in the hen house at night before I close the door.
It’s amazing how happy it makes me to have happy chickens.

I know just what you mean. It makes me smile when they are all on the ladder together or all bundled into a dust bath together. They have plenty of space to lay their eggs but they seem to like to share a nest box.
Love that they are all so happy together, Things were not like that at one time.
You are so right. After past bullying and feather pulling I now have a sweet happy flock who are really close.

They are pretty cute. These two are really in sync at the moment. They are both laying every other day at about the same time.
