We pruned the shrub that grows in the chicken run as it had grown through the weld mesh and was looking a bit odd. The girls like to reach up from the branch perch and peck at the leaves so we thought we would put the pruned bits in the run for them. They had a great time pecking at the leaves.
After I had given the girls a pot of growing leaves, to decimate, I thought that there would be nothing to lose from seeing if they would regrow.
I am pleased to see that they are regrowing. I think the girls will have some more fun with these at a later date.
The shrub that they are enjoying has also grown huge on the inside of the run. I have decided that I will prune that part at a later date so that they can enjoy the pruned branches again on another day. It is good to get maximum fun for the girls from the greenery.
So so pleased that Rusty is back to normal – honey really does seem to be a miracle worker! xx
I an so pleased too. I am now converted to the positive properties of honey! Rusty’s problems seem to have kicked off a moult and she is dropping feathers everywhere and have having lots of dust baths which are left with fluffy feathers in them. I am actually quite pleased at this because it will delay her resuming egg laying and I think the longer she doesn’t lay the better for her to heal inside. xx
Rusty looking good now, nice to see the girls enjoying their treat.
I am pleased with how she is looking and it is always good to see the girls enjoying some greenery.
Have you given them a pumpkin? We gave ours the fall pumpkins one year. They pecked and totally enjoyed the yummy goodness. It also made their yolks almost a florescent orange!
I have tried pumpkin in the past but my little girls find it a bit hard. I do give them apple and melon but even then I peel their apples or they can’t get into them. They are so spoilt.
I echo previous comments that Rusty is looking really good – and am delighted to see it.
Thank you. I am amazed to see her so good after looking so awful. I am hoping that at last I have managed to get one of my little girls through. It is great to see her looking happy and normal. Long may it last.
Cinnamon has a good little hole going there!
That’s a small hole for Cinnamon. We call her our “digger”. Sometimes she digs her holes so deep that she disappears in them.
