We are having a constant mix of sunshine and showers at the moment. It is more like April than August. It does mean that there is no need to water the garden though and the veg plot and the garden are lush. The tomatoes could do with more sun to ripen them, they are looking better than in previous year but are just not changing colour.
The potatoes are good and we have had a constant supply of courgettes. They have been much better than usual. The tomatoes also look better than usual but just need to ripen.
The runner beans are late this year and we have only had a few so far but the dwarf green beans have been good. The broad beans were our most unproductive yet but I put that down to the dry start to the year.
The rain is making up for it now and after wanting it to rain for the garden in June I now want it to stop! We had a hot and dry May and June and a cool and wet July and August so far. I know the grass is always greener on the other side but I want summer back and so do our tomatoes!
All looks good, We have been so luckey ,we have had sun every day, rain at night, but looks as though we are in for a change this week.I have a glut of tomatoes at the moment
I have been selling two packets a day, giving some away, and using as many as i can.
I’m also selling beans, courgettes and marrows. Sales are going well.
I bought and set leeks and beetroot,Sunday at the carboot sale, to fill in the space, where
the potatos have been used. dont like to waste a space.
Sounds like your veg plot is really productive. I can’t wait for the first tomato to ripen. I am thinking of ripening a few indoors to speed them up a bit or they will all be ready at once. We didn’t do leeks this year as last year we had so many that we got fed up with them in the end but I know what you mean about not wanting to waste the space. Sounds like your sales are going really well.
Your veg patch looks good.
We planned to start a veg patch this year but have missed it. We moved into the house last year and are still catching up with our plans!
If you only moved in last year you have already achieved an awful lot getting the chicken run done. We have been here eleven years now. Funnily enough our veg plot was up by the chicken run but when we extended the chicken run we moved it down to it’s current spot in front of the patio. A garden is always a long time, work in progress, and in fact our chicken run seemed to be constantly evolving too.
Oh, your garden is BEAUTIFUL!!!
