We have had days of rain. The bottom of the top part of the run always gets wet where it drips off of the roof. Cinnamon likes to dig in this spot. She had muddy toes all day because she had been digging there.
I managed to catch her digging in the mud. She moves so fast that a lot of the photos were blurred but I took plenty in the hope that some would be okay. I stopped when she flung a bit of mud at the camera.
I was pleased with this action shot before she splattered me with mud. I have never known a chicken that likes to dig quite as much as Cinnamon does. She is such a funny little girl.
She do look funny, looks as though she is stuck in the mud.
There is plenty of dry soil and just a few small muddy patches but she chose the mud. Perhaps she thought she might find some worms. She didn’t find any though because she can’t get down deep enough. When I dig for worms these little girls will eat the biggest worms, it surprises me that no worm is too big for them. They are so quick that they get the worms before the two bigger girls do.
She certainly makes use of those imposing feet!
Oh my goodness she does! Today I dug over all the wet parts of the run. Cinnamon got the lions share of the worms because she is so fast. When I had finished I watched the girls for a while and Cinnamon went to every wet patch that I had turned over and dug with fury. It is so funny to see her moving from one spot to another digging away. The other girls didn’t bother themselves. I felt that she deserved most of the worms as she expended the most energy.
