Our neighbour’s tree

Since we moved here, just over ten years ago, the tree in our next door neighbour’s garden has doubled in size. It was already a large tree but it is now an enormous tree.

Our next door neighbour’s tree as seen from our bedroom window

It overhangs the gardens either side despite the fact that we had someone come and cut the overhang from our side a few years back. It is a towering height and I imagine the neighbours will soon have to crawl under it to go up their garden.

It blots out a lot of sun from our garden. It fills the view from our upstairs bathroom window and it dwarfs everything in our garden. The neighbours don’t use their garden so I can’t imagine them doing anything about this tree any time soon.

I think we are stuck with this ever growing, monster, tree for the foreseeable future.

Prehaps you should complain to the council, you should not have to put up with this.

    At least ask their advice.

    • That’s what Steve said but we have already had enough aggravation from them about our rose and about the fence. We now keep the rose on our side. They said they want a safe garden for their little girl but they don’t go out in the garden. They rarely mow the lawn and the grass is long and now there are nettles in it. They barely talk to us any more. We would love the tree to come down or at least be lopped but we just don’t want any more fall outs with them. For now we are going to leave it and see what happens next year.

      • I am amazed that our neighbours read my blog, I would’t have imagined them reading it. Nick came round to see us and explained that it wasn’t a case of not talking to us, just a case of being busy and not really seeing us.

He said they do intend to do something with the tree but it’s a case of lack of funds at the moment. He said we should have talked to them but we felt they would be fed up with us bringing up something else.

I feel awful now for saying anything but hopefully we can put this behind us and try to be more understanding neighbours. We did say we would be happy to contribute to the cost as it would benefit us both but Nick wouldn’t hear of that. He says they will address it when they have funds. I am so sorry if I have caused any offence.
