Peaches was the last girl to moult and the last one to get her feathers back to normal. Her new breast feathers are almost fully grown but she has one patch of grey downy under feathers still peeping through.
She reminds me of a toy teddy bear with it’s stuffing trying to spill out of a hole in it’s tummy. Her tail is also almost back to it’s full length but she is sporting a three quarter length tail at the moment.
She is nearly back to perfect once more, it won’t be long now.
She is looking good.
She isn’t far off now. That first photo makes me feel like you could just tuck those fluffy grey feathers back in, but she is nearly there and miles better than her shabby look a few weeks ago.
Always a huge relief when they’re through the moult – I do wish Galdau, who is broody, would start! No doubt she’ll wait till the broody spell is over and then probably lose feathers with a vengeance.
I feel like I have been picking up feathers daily for months now but it has slowed and we are nearly done. Broody girls seem to do it in their very own way.
The three little girls are also dropping feathers but never look much different apart from having pins on their head which show up the most on Pebbles.
It is good when it’s all done and there is always the anticipation of eggs to look forward to. I wonder when the little girls will start to lay. I can’t wait to see what their eggs are like, how tiny will they be!
Yea Peaches. My Coco is no longer naked. But still has a long way to go. She was shivering on Sunday so we brought her in the house till the sun came out. Poor thing. And Pearl is molting but not naked. I sooooo dislike the molt. I dread it every year. So glad your girls are coming out the back end. I have a ways to go. But we’re getting there.
Poor Coco, at least she is getting there. They all get through it in the end. It can be awful but they all get there eventually. I am sure your girls will soon be beautiful once more.
