It was with a heavy heart that I closed the nest boxes last night. I felt so sorry for Pebbles being left without Caramel but I knew that she would now have to learn where to go at bedtime.
At half past six I went to check on her thinking that I would need to guide her into the chicken shed. To my surprise she had already put herself to bed on her own little perch. I felt really proud of her.

I checked back half an hour later and all the girls were in with no hassle.

It tugs at my heart to see Pebbles on her perch on her own. I am going to do some research and see if I can find another little girl to keep her company. I don’t hold out much hope though.

I’m so sorry Carol – you did your very best for your little girl and she knew that. I don’t know whereabouts you live but I know of two breeders who have seramas for sale if that will help?

I would love to find a breeder and get some more seramas to keep Pebbles company. Could you let me know where these breeders are?
Not only is Pebbles on her little perch on her own but we have adapted the sheltered patio area with a movable screen to keep them warm in winter as seramas don’t cope well with the cold and I now worry that when it’s cold Pebbles will be on her own in the sheltered part.
I am sure you will,I feel so proud of you , the way you look after your girls.
