I decided to give the girls a treat of some fish in the hope that the extra protein helps Butterscotch to get her feathers opened.
It is so nice seeing the girls share happily together. I no longer have to spread the dishes far and wide to allow Speckles to get her share. My flock of six get along together peacefully.
At bedtime they settle quickly without any of the girls being chased out of the chicken shed and they all seem to interact with me more. It’s been a surprise what a difference it has made to the flock since Topaz and Honey have been re homed. I think six is a better number for our space and these girls seem much more settled together.
They do seem really contented and it is lovely to see Speckles fully integrated, not waiting in the wings for you to provide her treats almost separately.
I agree, it so much nicer seeing the flock fully united and Speckles confidence seems to have grown. The flock is much more together now and much more harmonious.
You really have the most spoilt girls. But it is lovely to see such happy chicks.
I agree that they are totally spoiled. Between working yesterday I spent time digging the run over and finding worms for them. I also nicked some dandelions from my next door neighbour for them. Then in the afternoon I pealed an apple for them so that they have something to peck at while we are out. They can’t get through the peal so I always peal their apples Yes they are quite spoilt but I know all our pets are. I love seeing happy chicks too.
