Another example of my two “together girls”

Peaches and Barley are so together. They share a dust bath while practically laying on each other. They even share a nest box and lay their eggs together. You will rarely ever see them not together. It does make me smile. This was the pair of them at the food dish yesterday.

You couldn’t get two girls more in sync than this. They are such a cute pair.

    They are so sweet.

I plan on adding to my flock this spring. I’m frustrated with the Buff Orpingtons. I LOVE them. But they are prone to so many issues. So I’m going to get different hens this time. But I’m so worried about getting a bully. Sigh. What to do.

    • I would add some different hens. I was adding two the same each time and have now found adding two different ones is better. I love the variety of colours and characters. You learn as you go. I would always have to have an Emerald (black game) and a Speckles (ancona). So pretty and such lovely natures. I have been put off of Wyndottes now. I would say try different girls and you may be pleasantly surprised.

    Amy.. I agree with Carol.

Each breed has their different characteristics and keep you smiling in different ways . It is nice to see how they compare.

    • Also Amy, if you worry about getting a bully, that can happen with any breed but they do all settle down in the end. I think of Topaz as a thug because none of the girls would mess with her but it doesn’t cause any problem. They all accept her as top hen.

Thee two truly encapsulate the adage that ‘birds of a feather flock together’. 🙂
