Since I moved the new nest boxes to the top of the little coop nest boxes the girls have ignored them except for Speckles. They have become a new favourite place for her to stand. I think she likes the extra bit of height.
Speckles likes to stand here and inspect the shed after I have done the morning poop pick.
I am glad to see that at least one girl likes them even if only to perch upon.
She is a beautiful leader! Love those kind of girls 🙂
She is a beautiful girl. She is bottom girl but even so I think she may be first to use the new nest boxes. She is certainly the only girl that is all over them. They are her new favourite vantage point.
She is looking lovely; when that comb and those watles turn red, hopefully she’ll be making use of the boxes in another way!
I think you are right. I look forward to her comb and wattles turning red because I have the feeling that she is going to be an exceptional egg layer when she finally gets started.
She seems to be getting quite brave with you! She’s such a pretty color too.
Such a shame you didn’t get a Christmas gift from Topaz…hee hee!
I looked back at an old photo of my speckled sussex, and realized that compared to now, she used to be more brown. Right now it looks like snow fell on her back! 😉
The hens over here are being silly. On a sunny day with snow, they won’t go out. We’ve tried putting leaves on the ground and shoveling paths, but no budging…:(
Oh, they did come out when I brought food and held it in the doorway. Princess Peach crash landed into a plate of leftover dumplings that I brought out, and stuffed herself with food! Such a little pig! ?
I think with spotty girls when they moult they get more spots so the older they are the more spotty they are. She is very pretty. We have had very mild weather and no snow here. I can picture your girls being reluctant to come out until food tempts them.
She looks lovely. I think she is on there because the others are not and she feels safe and in charge for once .
I agree. I think she really likes that spot because the other girls are not interested and it has become her own spot. Every morning when I clean the coop that is where she will be.
