We thought another high perch in the chicken shed would ease the battle to get to the top rung and make the girls more likely to want to go in at night. We now feel the chicken shed is finished.
My husband used a ring for the hook which he already had then decided as a bit of fun he would add a door knocker which must have come from a past door and was in his box of things that may come in useful one day.
We have pretty much recycled everything. The new top of the storage cabinet is made from the floor of the coop then topped with the felt left over from the new shed roofs. All left over wood has been made into kindling which will see us through the winter.
We have spent three days “shedding” as my husband calls it and we think we are pretty much done now. It’s been exhausting but gives us a real sense of achievement.
It just remains to be seen now if the girls go in tonight. I am quite hopeful.
You both must feel a tremendous sense of achievement.
We do. We have spent three days hard slog getting everything done but in the evening we have sat and talked about it and both agree that we feel a real sense of achievement. It has worked out even better than we imagined.
OMG, LOVE IT!!! I missed this post over the weekend. Oh, the girls must be so happy to have all this real estate.
I think the girls really do love it. My neighbour laughed that the girls have the biggest portion of the garden now. First the run got extended down the garden and now the coop has been extended at the back of the garden. I think this coop is perfect for the girls.
