Our spring garden this weekend

Here is my hyacinth bucket a week later than my last photo of it with the blooms just reaching their peak.

I love the way the tulips react to the sun. In the morning and evening they are closed.

Once the sun is on them they open and show their centres.

A week later and the buds on this shrub are now fully open.

Our pot of alyssum is now in full flower.

It seems that there is a lot of white in the garden now and all the shrubs that were in bud a week ago are now in full flower.

I said in my last post that primula will self seed absolutely anywhere and this is an example.

It is amazing how much the garden changes in a week and it’s so lovely watching it unfold.

Soooo pretty. So fun to see how spring comes a different times in different parts of the world. My Hyacinths bloomed back in Feb.

I promise to write a new blog soon. Life has been stressful over the past 3-4 months. And I finally got the contractors out to fully roof and rat proof my run. They are almost done and I’m so happy with the results.

Wow you do get have your hyacinths in bloom early.

I have been looking out for another post from you. Sorry you have had a stressful time but I am glad you are happy with your run now. Perhaps you could do a post on it when it’s all finished. I know how hard it is to keep the run rat proofed. I seem to have to work on mine each winter but at the moment it’s good. Can’t wait to see yours.

I think it’s just the fact that I’m in California and we have such mild winters and that by February, it’s really beginning to warm up. I plant my veggie garden by March 1st, the roses are blooming by March, the daffodils are done blooming by March 1st.
        It’s crazy.

That is amazing. We can’t plant any veg that’s not frost hardy until May as up until then there can still be frosts at night. Some years we get impatient and plant in April only to lose the plants and then have to plant more. Our roses start blooming in June. On the other hand though we do have roses still blooming in September and October some years until the first frost.
