We went up to the girls after our evening meal as usual, which was about half past seven. We were surprised to see that only Peaches was out in the run.
Peaches was wandering around the run completely oblivious to the fact that all the other girls had gone in. She went to the food then went to the water then wandered off again. We decided that it was probably time to direct her towards the shed.
I decided to direct her to the pop hole.
I am actually really thrilled that by day three we have progressed so much. I think if I had left it until a little later Peaches would probably have made her own way in. I also think that now the girls have seen the higher perch they will be even happier to go in tomorrow on their own.
I was worried that training them to go in on their own may take a very long time and yet in three days we seem to be there already. I am feeling very positive and really feel that we have finally achieved what we wanted.
We now have a lovely area at the top of our garden and have the perfect chicken shed that the girls are actually happy to go in on their own. We are feeling really happy tonight.
I love Peaches look at the emptiness, and thinking “WHAAAAAT?!?”
I’m noticing that Toffee is like a third wheel to Peaches and Barley. Maybe it’s just me, but I always see the them with Toffee close by. 😉
You are right about Peaches, even from behind you can see from her body language what she is thinking. You are also right that Toffee is always near them at bedtime. On the outside perches Toffee would often be next to them.
I knew they could do it. Well done those girls !
I think the person that’s missing out on this is you.. You just loved putting them to bed , just like children . 🙂
I love the expression ” third wheel” that Jillian used .i also think she is right.
I can’t wIt to see the palace .
I am so pleased with how quickly they have got the hang of it. It’s not that I minded picking them up it’s just that it tied me to not being able to leave them. Now we are talking about being able to have an occasional night away.
I can’t wait to show you on Wednesday.
P.S. …I have just noticed the door knocker . Do you have to knock first before entry is permitted 🙂
Ha Ha, we already said that. Richard said would one screw be enough or should he use two and I said that one is enough because it isn’t actually going to be used. It would probably scare the girls to death.
They look really settled- lovely to see.
I am amazed how quickly they have the hang of it.
